What is the Capacity of the Barn?

Max Capacity in the Main Barn for a seated dinner is 200. We host weddings up to 300 guests using a tent for the dinner portion of the event. Barn 1888 will created a digital table layout for you based on your final count. We reserve the right to re-configure seating to maximize capacity and crowd flow.

Do you have a ceremony rain option?

Yes! The barn basement can hold 75 guests in rows. Larger ceremonies can take place upstairs in the barn.  We create an aisle and your guests sit at their tables.

Can we bring in our own decor?

Yes! However we do not allow open flames or real candles, Flicker candles are OK. Glitter, confetti, artificial snow, artificial flower petals, Chinese lanterns, and fireworks are not permitted, however, eco-friendly, biodegradable confetti and real flower petals are permitted.

Is Smoking Allowed?

Smoking is not allowed inside the barn. Smoking is allowed outside the barn in designated areas, but not by the entrances.

Can we choose our own Caterer?

We have a list of preferred caterers that will offer you a complimentary tasting.  If you choose to not use a preferred caterer, that's fine, but you need to hire a licensed(and fully staffed) catering service.  The 10% service charge for all caterers is based on your total, pre-tax food and beverage costs. This does not apply to dessert caterers.  The caterers prep area is for caterers only, and not to be used for personal food items.

Can We Hire our own bartender?

No, We have our own Class C Liquor License, and we require all alcoholic beverages to be purchased and served through Barn 1888 Bar Services.  Several package options are available. Alcoholic beverages may be served at the farm in accordance with all local and state laws.  Shots are prohibited, including liquor on ice. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the parking lot or driveway. This is strictly enforced.  Any alcohol brought in by the guests during your event will be confiscated, and the guest(s) may be asked to leave the premises.  Barn 1888 reserves the right to discontinue alcohol service during the event. Drunk and/or disorderly patrons will be asked to leave or escorted off the property.

What about a DJ or band?

If you choose one not on our preferred list, we recommend them setting up a site visit.  Due to our township noise ordinance, reception music must take place in the barn, not outside.  Ceremony and cocktail hour music may take place outside. Music will end by 11:00 pm on the night of your event.  There is no exception to this rule. We reserve the right to ask that music be turned down during an event if we feel it is louder than usual.  We do not allow the use of Bass Subwoofers. If you do not use one of our preferred DJ’s, please plan accordingly.

Does Barn 1888 meet all local township and building codes?

Yes, our entire Renovation project has been approved by the township. All local and state commercial codes for fire, handicap, electric, and plumbing are being followed throughout the entire process.

What time is a typical ceremony?

Most ceremonies take place between 4:00 and 5:00 pm.  This gives you and your vendors enough time to get ready, and ensures that guests aren’t waiting too long between the ceremony ending and dinner.

Is the $1500 deposit applied to our total cost?

Absolutely! $1500 is due to officially reserve a date.  Your 2nd payment is due 90 days from your event, and the remaining balance is due 1 day prior to your event(usually when you come for rehearsal).

How close are the nearest hotels?

Barn 1888 is just 7 miles(10min.) from the Best Western Plus in Wayland. We also rent the farmhouse out for weddings too.
